Pain ist not equal pain. Experiencing pain as pleasure seems
paradoxical but pain is pleasurable when it is received as
pleasurable.
Have you ever had intense sex and afterwards noticed bite marks
on your neck of which you had no memory? Or scratch marks down
your back?
What happened was your love partner bit or scratched
you - HARD - intense - hard enough to leave a mark on you. A
bite given in the bedroom may drive one to a peak of passion. A
bite of identical force given under other circumstances may make
you scream out of pain.
When you are sexually aroused the pain level goes way up and
stimulation that you usually feel as pain is now actually
pleasurable.
Results of the sports medicine research show that endorphins
(natural opiates set free in the brain) bind to opiate receptors
in the brain bringing not only cessation of pain but a sense of
well being or even euphoria. Pain can literally bring pleasure.
Nothing else than a endorphin rush happens to a person running a
marathon and you would not say a marathon runner is a masochist
- would you?
Pain first starts in the brain and whatever you perceive as pain
will be pain - whatever you perceive as pleasure is pleasure.
Nobody wants to really be hurt!
